Ingredients
For about 18-20 chicken and bacon skewers:
- 400g (14 oz) chicken breast
- 200g (7 oz) bacon slices
- 2 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Fresh rosemary
- Sweet paprika (optional)
- Lemon juice (optional)
- Wooden skewers
Preparation
How to make chicken and bacon skewers:
- Cut the chicken: Cut the chicken breast into 1-inch cubes to ensure even cooking.
- Wrap with bacon: Wrap each piece of chicken in a slice of bacon and thread onto wooden skewers, alternating the meat and rosemary for a more aromatic flavour.
- Season: Brush the skewers with extra virgin olive oil and season with salt, pepper and sweet paprika for a smoky note. If you prefer a fresher flavour, drizzle a few drops of lemon juice before cooking.
- Cook the skewers: Heat a griddle or non-stick pan and cook the skewers for about 10 minutes, turning them often until the bacon is crispy and the chicken is cooked through. Alternatively, you can cook them in the oven at 200°C for 12-15 minutes.
- Serving: Serve hot with a yogurt sauce or flavored mayonnaise for an extra kick! 😋
Sustainable Tips ♻️
Choose organic or locally raised chicken to ensure higher quality and a lower environmental impact. If possible, avoid plastic by purchasing meat directly from the butcher with a reusable container.
To reduce waste, you can use leftover chicken to make a broth or soup, maximizing every part of the food. Alternatively, if you have some bacon left over, use it to enrich other dishes such as salads or omelettes.
For an even more eco-friendly option, choose compostable wooden skewers or reusable steel skewers, reducing the use of disposable products.
