Ingredients
For about 15 coconut and chocolate truffles:
- 150g (5.3 oz) dark chocolate
- 100g (3.5 oz) coconut flour (or coconut slivers)
- 80ml (2.7 fl oz) coconut milk or plant-based milk of your choice
- 2 tablespoons honey or maple syrup (optional)
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract (optional)
- Extra bitter cocoa or coconut flour for coating
Preparation
How to make coconut and chocolate truffles
- Melt the chocolate: Melt the dark chocolate in a double boiler or in the microwave in 30-second intervals, stirring to prevent it from burning.
- Prepare the dough: In a bowl, mix the melted chocolate with the coconut flour, coconut milk and honey. Add the vanilla extract if you want a stronger flavour. Mix until the mixture is smooth and compact.
- Form the truffles: Take small portions of dough and shape them into balls with your hands. Roll them in coconut flour or bitter cocoa for extra coating.
- Let it rest and serve: Arrange the truffles on a tray and let them harden in the fridge for 30 minutes before enjoying them.
Sustainable Tips ♻️
Choose ethical chocolate: For a more sustainable dessert, use Fairtrade certified dark chocolate, which guarantees fair and non-exploitative production. Find out more about Fairtrade Italia.
Light alternative: If you want a less sweet version, omit the honey or maple syrup: dark chocolate and coconut already have a naturally sweet flavor.
Storage: Truffles can be stored in the fridge for 4-5 days or in the freezer for a month.
